What BesluitBron is

BesluitBron connects an AI assistant to the public decision-making records of the Netherlands: the council documents of municipalities, provinces and water authorities, the papers and votes of the House of Representatives, the official publications, and the rulings of the judiciary. A question in ordinary language yields an answer with its source reference, instead of a search through hundreds of separate systems.

The data comes from the platforms listed at the foot of every page. BesluitBron keeps no version of its own and changes nothing at those platforms. What a source does not hold, BesluitBron does not hold either, and every answer states how precise it is.

Free of charge, and why that is possible

Use is free and no account is needed. This site carries no advertisements, builds no profile and sells no data. The costs are hosting and maintenance, borne by the foundation that runs the site, as a corporate social responsibility activity of the company that forms its board.

Questions, reports and issues

Every question about the product goes to the forum, and only there. An answer on a forum can be read by the next person with the same question. The e-mail address is for what does not belong on a public page. The contact page carries both.

Source code

The source code of BesluitBron is licensed under the EUPL-1.2 and is supplied on request through info@besluitbron.nl. A request is answered within two working days. There is no public repository at present. This code is written largely with AI assistance, and Codeberg, the intended place of publication, has recently set conditions on AI generated contributions. Until it has been established how those conditions apply to this code, the source is supplied on request rather than published. This does not limit the rights the EUPL-1.2 grants: whoever receives the code, receives it under that licence.

Whoever wants to run the service on their own infrastructure will find on Run it yourself when that is worth doing and what it takes.
