First use

Whether you've just finished MCP onboarding or are about to start — here's what registering the custom connector looks like, and what your first use of Claude with besluitbron produces.

Register the custom connector

The same steps as MCP onboarding: add the connector once in Claude Desktop or claude.ai.

Add a custom connector in Claude Desktop

Open Settings and go to Connectors, then choose Add custom connector.
1 Open Settings and go to Connectors, then choose Add custom connector.
Enter a name and the MCP server URL, then choose Add.
2 Enter a name and the MCP server URL, then choose Add.
The connector appears as connected and its tools are ready to use.

Ask your first question

Once the connector is connected, you can ask Claude straight away. A few examples to start with:

  • "What is on the agenda of the upcoming Utrecht council meeting?"
  • "Find the Ede documents about the heat network from recent years and summarise the positions."
  • "What happened earlier in this dossier, and are there contradictions between the documents?"

What to expect

  • Claude cites its source: which municipality, province or water authority, and which document backs up the answer.
  • The first answer can take a little longer, because Claude calls several tools in sequence to answer the question.
  • Not sure where to start? The full MCP onboarding guide covers every connection method and more example prompts.
