A connector is available as soon as it responds reliably. This is possible even if not everything from the underlying platform has been exposed yet. A reader should be able to see what has and has not been exposed without having to look at the source code.
No connector carries a ‘beta’ designation. Since version 1.3.25, this designation no longer exists, not even as a field in the service’s responses. Up to and including version 1.3.24, OpenBesluitvorming was listed as ‘beta’ due to three limitations, two of which have since been resolved by the platform.
Three levels
- Fully accessible: the tools cover the scope that the platform sensibly offers for this target group. This is not the same as ‘every field on the platform’, as a platform also provides data that is of no relevance to this target group;
- Partially accessible: part of the platform is accessible, whilst the rest is not. The page for that platform at Bronnen explains what is missing and why;
- Under development: the address exists and is functional, but its behaviour may still change. This is stated in plain language on the page for that source, rather than indicated by a label. A term such as ‘beta’ does not tell the reader exactly what might change, and that is precisely what they need to know.
Where a reader sees this
In three places. These three do not contradict one another, as they are all derived from the same source:
- the tool
list_capabilitiesfor each connector, which the assistant can consult themselves; - the source page in this documentation, at Bronnen, in the section on the address and tools;
- the login page and the management console for the running service.
Why this is a separate topic
A service that brings together multiple sources can easily give the impression that it contains everything. This is not the case with any of the seven platforms. In the case of Open Archivaris, it is actually impossible, as that source is closed. A reader relying on an answer must therefore be able to ascertain what has been left out. This is the same requirement as in Zoekprecisie, now applied to the coverage rather than to the search query.
